Hi John
Meetings are also held in Essex: "John Barfoot organises a regular tea & chat meeting in The Dugout. This historic location saw the start off Cross & Cockade in the UK back in the 1960s, when John formed the Essex Chapter of the US Cross & Cockade Society - years before the British society formed. Be a part of the history of Cross & Cockade - check with John (alias Flight Sergeant Dogzbody) at dbdy@btinternet.com. Meetings are held at John's place in Romford on the first Friday of each month. - See more at: http://www.crossandcockade.com/Blog.asp?Display=48#sthash.eQquLmhP.dpuf Edited by AndyK - 29 May 2013 at 14:01 |

I wish I could be there, especially in June but being 200 miles away gets in the way

Time to publicise the London Meetings of Cross & Cockade for 2013. They are free of charge this year, and non-CCI members are welcome;
24 May - " England Shall be Destroyed by Fire. The Zeppelin Raids, 1915 - 18" by David Marks 14 June - "Edward Busk, the First Professional Test Pilot? (–and the BE2c debate)â€, by Adrian Roberts (yours truly) 26 July - "Digitisation of Photographs for the Cross & Cockade Journal", by Barbara Huston 27 September - "The Klaxon & the RFC" by Mike Meech 22Nov - Phil Jarrett's famous Christmas Quiz The venue is aboard HMS President, previously known in WW1 as HMS Saxifrage. Launched in 1918 as an Anchusa Class corvette, she was equipped as a Q- Ship. She is a fantastic venue for meetings - a wonderful piece of history in its own right. The ship is moored on the Thames Victoria Embankment in Central London, opposite the OXO Tower; postcode EC4Y 0HJ. Nearest tube stations are Blackfriars and Temple. All dates are Fridays. Folk gather for a chat from 18:00 in the Captain's Lounge, and the talk starts promptly at 19:30. Usually the meeting wraps up around 21:00. |
